12 Days of Christmas - Day Six Flower Barrettes

Happy Day Six!  :)  So now that I officially feel old (thanks to having a bona fide teenager!!!) I'm going to show you a gift that works for any lady...no matter the age!  Check out my original blog for Kudos, cause this is a repeat.
Flower Barrettes!!
Soooo pretty and pretty easy too!
you will need:
Satin fabric
1 rhinestone
barrette
fabric glue
tea light

Take satin fabric, cut approx 5 (4-6)  freehand circles of different sizes the smallest being approx 1.5 inches in diameter and the largest being about 3.5.
Glue the rhinestone to the smallest circle.
Carefully singe the edges of the small circle by holding the fabric up to the candle flame.
Continue glueing on the next largest and singing until you've gotten it to look the way you want.
Finally glue on the barrette.
PRETTY!!!!  You can combine colors or whatever you choose.

Thanks for looking!!  Here's what you've missed:

12 Days of Christmas - Day Five

Happy Birthday to my Kaity!!!!
My daughter turns 13 today!  It's hard to believe she's a teenager.  Time does fly.  I can't even begin to express to you how much I love her and how much she means to me.  She is an awesome person!!!!  My wish to her is that all of her dreams come true and I want her to DREAM BIG, BABY!!!  Today's project was an idea that I heard of and knew that I'd have to remember to do it for my girl.  I'm so glad that I did.  See, my mom passed away 10 years ago now.  She was my best friend, my confidant, my MOM!  And she was preceded in death by my dad when I was 27 years old.  My poor babies have lived almost their whole lives not knowing my parents and it is a shame!  My parents really lived to be grandparents...they were the epitome of what you picture as grandparents and although they didn't get very much time to fill that role, they made HUGE impressions and I thank God everyday that I got to spend the first part of my life with them.  They were perfect examples of how to live and I know they would be proud, proud, proud of their grandkids!!!
I know they'd like this idea - I asked women in my life that I respect and love to write a letter to her.  The letters are all encouraging and amazing!  I do love these women!!  I just want Kaity to know that she can do ANYTHING and that although the teenage years can be very challenging that she will get through it!  She's smart, makes great decisions, and is a beautiful girl!
So....I put the letters together in a scrapbook for her.  I love you, Kaity!!!  More and more every single day!

12 Days of Christmas - Day Four Tutu cute

Merry, Merry, Merry!!!
Day Four....I want to share these tutu cute chalkbords.  I have posted these before, so please check that out for credit to the inspiration!  These were really pretty easy to make.  I used an 11x14 artist canvas....painted it with chalkboard paint - I didn't use the spray kind although I've read great reviews on it!  After painting, I staple-gunned a ribbon across the bottom and one to hang it with and then I made two bows and stapled them down too.  Then the fun began I used a whole lotta tulle - maybe 12 yards??  I held the tulle in my hand and smooshed it together so that it was about an inch wide and stapled one end of the tulle to the bottom of the canvas then I kept smooshing and pulled about 9 or 10 inches and then stapled again this time approx 2-3 inches away from the last staple.  I kept doing this across the bottom of the canvas to make little 'banner' of canvas.  Then you get to fluff all that beautiful tulle out - the longer the rings you've made the bigger the fluff.  It is a really easy project and one that was fun to make.  I'm sure my nieces will love them!

Merry Christmas!!!  Hope you are finding some inspiration!

12 Days of Christmas - Day Three - dollar store vase

Happy 3rd day of Christmas!!!  :)
Today is another dollar store purchase....I just love this idea and I did etch the vase again, but the really cool idea (if I say so myself) is that this vase was two pieces from the dollar store.  The base is a glass candle holder and I attached it to the glass vase to make it look even more elegant.  I glued them together with E6000.  Easy peasy and super cute!!  I think I may put some flowers around the base - I'll look at the dollar store for those too!  And it can be used for flowers or I was thinking I'd put a candle in it.  This one is for my sister in law.

Please forgive the scenery... :) I love the frog...almost so much that I want to keep it, but I won't!  Heck, at the price, I can afford to make myself one too!  (After Christmas, of course - too many other things to do until then!)

12 Days of Christmas - Day Two - etched mug & wine glass

Merry Christmas Day Two!  :)
Hi crafters, Happy Black FRIDAY!!!!!  Hope you find some good bargins today!  And what a good segway that is to this.....  These mugs and glasses I purchased at the Dollar Store for $1 each!  I used my cricut and some vinyl to make a stencil and the end results are fabulous!!!!  I made this beer mug for my brother for Christmas.  I'm giving him this and a case of his fave beer!  He will love it.  I'm teasing him though (as all younger siblings should) and I will tell him that it took me everything I had to not spell his name (Bob) with two O's.  LOL!!!  I put a dog with a big 'ol grin on it's face on it too.  He loves all animals, but is a big dog lover.  I thought that was fun to make.  I also did 4 wine glasses (again only $1 each!!!) with a big E on them for my BF's sister and her hubby.  Their last name is English so I figure that would be best.  :)  I guess I coulda just randomly picked an initial, but I'm not sure they'd find the humor.  I am going to include a nice bottle of wine and voila.  (I like saying voila - it's fun, try it; you'll see!)  I made several etched glass things this year.  Mugs, glasses, a vase and even a candy dish that my daughter gave to one of her friends filled with m&m's.  All of the glass I've used has been from the dollar store.

12 days of Christmas - Day One Advent Calendar

Hi my crafty friends!
I'm going to do a 12 days of Christmas theme starting today and for the next 12 days, I am going to post a crafty, inexpensive, not too terribly complicated Christmas gift idea.  I'm starting with this advent calendar because it did take the longest.  I used all sorts of paper, stickles, stamps, and my cricut.  This was A LOT of fun to make!!!!  I purchased a mini-muffin tin at Wallyworld for approx $6-$8 and then I just used stuff I have in my craft room for the rest.  I cut squares of paper approx 2.5inches and then used my cricut or a stamp set to embelish each square differently.  I then put magnets on the back of each sqare and voila!!!  An awesome advent calendar that can be used year after year!!!!  Because you use a mini-muffin pan you can also put larger sized trinkets in.  I am going to use some left over Halloween candy - (who will know?!?) and put two in for every day for both of my kids.  On the days that my BF's son is over, I will put a third treat in.  I will also get some peppermint kisses to put in some days too!  I made two of these - one for my bestie and one for me.  I made them identical so we wouldn't fight!  :)  (She's mean like that - haha!)  I also had a lot of fun blinging them up with stickles, pait pens, ribbon, googly eyes - be as creative as you want.  As cutsie or as traditional as you want!  I am going to display mine on a plate easel.
Enjoy!!!!  Please stay tuned for 11 more projects!  Merry Christmas!

PS- don't tell Mike, but I think I love that hedgehog so much that I wanna marry him.  He's sooooo adorable!  (And he agrees with everything I say!)

Get Whale

Well it's the day before Turkey Day and my BF is a bit under the weather.  Bummer!!  (More turkey for me!!!)  I mean, poor guy, I hope he feels better before the big meal!  (More potatoes, more pie....yummo!!!)
Thought I'd post a cute card.  I made this one so that the front slides up.....soooo cute!  I found this book that had card making fold ideas and this idea was in it!  I have no idea where the book is from; I didn't even know that I had it (weird!), but it's fun and I will try lots of new ideas!
I used create-a-critter (of course, I did - LOOOVE that carty!) and The Pink Stamper stamp set.

Enjoy your holiday!!!!
I am blessed to have all of you in my life - and so thankful that I started blogging!!

Off we go....zebra card

Howdy Ho!
Well, it's almost turkey day!  That means travel for a lot of us.  Including me this year!  I am going to drive up to Chicago to spend some time with my BF's fam.  Sounds like fun!!!  Wish I had more spending money to go shop in the big city, but it's all good!  I have made a lot of gifts this year and actually am going to share a lot of them with you...stay tuned!  Starting Thursday I am going to post a new handmade gift idea for 12 days.  Sounds fun.  I will also post other things as the mood strikes me, but we are all so busy, I wanted to get that part done so you'd have time to make them - trust me, they are all pretty simple and inexpensive!

I thought I'd post this cute zebra card that I made for a friend who is doing some traveling!  Turned out pretty adorable, if I say so myself!  :)  I believe this zebra is in the Paisley carty.

Here's an idea- for me making two cards is as easy as making one. (Probably because it takes me the longest to choose colors and plan the idea) SO....I usually always make two of every card and sometimes the envelopes too.  I enjoy putting them all together and then I place them in a photo holder box.  The A2 sized cards fit perfectly.  I sort them by occasion and then when I need a card, I know right where to look.  It works for me!
Enjoy!!
Safe travels and Happy Thanksgiving!!

Butterfly card

Friends, friends, friends!!  :)
Happy Friday to you!  One week away from Black Friday!  WoW!! This year has gone by much too quickly!!!
I just did this simple card using the Hannah Montana carty and I think it turned out pretty nice.  Just shadowed the butterfly and then used a sparkle pen to trace around.  I also lined the envelope....fun!  Nice sentiment too that can be used for lots of occasions.....  "Take care of "you" today"
Sooo busy for Kaity's party tomorrow so I don't have time to 'chat' I will send more soon!

Tammy
